Goa: Ferran Corominas scored twice while Brandon Fernandes threw another, as FC Goa beat Odisha FC 3-0 at the top of the table. Indian Super League 2019-20 points table at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Goa on Sunday.
Corominas scored one goal each in the first half while Brandon scored in the 85th minute FC Goa is in the front line and sealed the three points.
Goa started firing on all the word landlords and they could have led their first attack of the game. Mandar Rao Dessai crossed the ball well but Narayan Das got on his feet to prevent the ball from reaching Jackichand Singh who was pushing his tail.
The next minute, Hugo Boumous tried his luck in the distance and Odisha was lucky to see a ball that missed and missed the target when he took over from Diawandou Diagne.
Goa were rewarded for their efforts in the 19th minute when Coro lost blood. Jerry Mawihmingthanga lost the ball in Brandon's half, and was able to score well with Jackichand Singh. The Manipuri winger produced a deflected ball through Boumous, who put Coro in the penalty box.
Lobera was forced to change in the 20th minute as Jackichand could not continue after an injury to Seiminlen Doungel was also dropped.
Odisha struggled to play backwards and relinquished ownership of successive times as they were unable to cope with the high press in Goa.
In addition to running, Odisha canceled out their first chance of the game when Aridane Santana saw a walk by Guedes throwing a beautiful ball. But the Argentine's misery was his first touch as his shot hit a hard shot at a target.
Gombau made two changes to the break when Xisco and Gaurav Bora came on the bench. He was also forced to use his third substitute in the 49th minute as Jerry was aggravated following a disturbance from the Fall Mourtada.
Odisha came close to equalizing in the 59th minute when a cross from Das equalized with a header from Xisco but it was in the interest of Mohammad Nawaz who saved a beautiful goal that made it unchanged.
At the other end, Arshdeep Singh was good at stopping Doungel's attempt to bridge the gap.
However, it was Goa who scored the next goal. Brandon scored in the 85th minute for extra effort after Arshdeep failed to make a normal save.
In the 89th minute, Goa extended their lead when Coro converted the penalty. The two-time Gold Cup winner scored his second goal of the evening after throwing a foul on Aridane.
