Hobart: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has made her way back to the WTA circuit by advancing to the women's semi-finals at the Hobart International Tournament today.
Returning to the court two years later, Sania and her Ukrainian partner Nadia Kichenok defeated 2-6 7-6 (3) in a 10-3 win over Georgia's Oksana Kalashnikova and Japan's Miyu Kato. for one hour and 41 minutes.
The two Indo-Ukrainians will play against America Vania King and Christina McHale.
The American pair came second behind Spanish duo Georgina Garcia Perez and Sara Sorrib Tormo 6-2 7-5 in the round of 16.
In her two-year absence from the game, the 33-year-old Sania battled to overcome injuries before taking a formal break to give birth to her son Izhaan.
The 33-year-old last played at the China Open in October 2017.
